Putin and Xi Hold Video Meeting to Strengthen Russia-China Relations

In a significant display of strategic partnership, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted a video meeting on January 21, as reported by China Central Television (CCTV). The virtual meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The dialogue underscores the commitment of both nations to fostering close ties and mutual cooperation. Earlier this month, President Putin had informed his government of his intention to hold talks with President Xi, emphasizing the importance of continued communication between the two leaders.
President Xi, in his New Year message to Putin, highlighted China’s readiness to maintain close contact with Russia to further enhance their friendly relations. He also emphasized the shared vision of promoting fairness and justice on the international stage.
In his message, Xi stated, “China and Russia always move forward together on the correct path of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of any third party.” He further noted the growing political trust and strategic coordination between the two countries, attributing this to the “strategic guidance” provided by both leaders.
This meeting reflects the deepening partnership between Russia and China amid shifting global dynamics, as both countries seek to strengthen their roles on the international stage through collaboration and shared objectives.
