President Tebboune Welcomes Pope Leo XIV With Official Ceremony at Algiers International Airport

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune held an official welcoming ceremony for His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on Monday, at Houari Boumediene International Airport of Algiers, marking the start of the Pontiff’s official visit to Algeria.

The President welcomed Pope Leo XIV with a 21-gun salute, followed by the playing of both national anthems and a review of honor guards from various branches of the People’s National Army.

Pope Leo XIV excahnged greetings with senior state officials who were present to welcome him. In turn, the President of the Republic greeted the delegation accompanying the Pope.
