President Tebboune Responds Positively to German President’s Request Seeking Pardon for Sansal
The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, responded positively to the request of German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, seeking pardon for Boualem Sansal. The Algerian President received on November 10, 2025, a request from the President of the friendly Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, seeking a pardon for Boualem Sansal.
“The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received on 10 November 2025, a request from Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the friendly Federal Republic of Germany, which includes a pardon for the benefit of Boualem Sansal,” said the communiqué.
The Algerian President responded to this request, which captured his attention due to its nature and humanitarian reasons.
In accordance with Article 91, Paragraph 8 of the Constitution, and after the legally required consultation, the Algerian President decided to respond positively to the request of His Excellency the President of the friendly Federal Republic of Germany, where the German state will take charge of transporting the concerned individual and his treatment.
