President Tebboune Commends Diaspora’s Participation in Algeria’s Economic Transformation

The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, praised today Thursday the commitment of members of the national diaspora abroad to engaging in the economic transformation that Algeria is experiencing and to participating in the national renewal.

In a message he delivered on the occasion of the National Migration Day commemorating the 64th anniversary of the demonstrations of 17 October 1961, the President of the Republic greeted the daughters and sons of the national diaspora throughout the world, who carry their love for Algeria and their loyalty to it in their hearts, demonstrating their commitment by participating in the economic transformation underway in our country and by their determination to contribute to the process of national renewal and the building of the modern nation-state to which the proud Algerian people aspire.

In this respect, the President of the Republic considered the date of 17 October 1961, a witness to the massacres committed by French colonial authorities against members of the national diaspora in Paris, “an eternal day in national memory,” because it “symbolizes how Algerian immigrants joined forces with the glorious liberation revolution. After seven years of armed struggle, the revolution had become a liberation epic whose momentum and revolutionary spirit won the support of freedom lovers worldwide.” On this annual commemoration, the President of the Republic paid solemn respect “to the souls of those members of the generation of national fighters who died in foreign lands during the victorious war of liberation and to the souls of the honorable martyrs.”
