Pope Francis Condemns Deaths of Children in Conflicts, Urges Protection of Rights

Pope Francis on Monday condemned the deaths of children in bombings, stressing that nothing is more important than a child’s life. Addressing the “Children’s Rights Summit” in Vatican City, the pontiff emphasized that the killing of children represents a denial of the future.

He urged the summit participants to find innovative ways to protect children whose rights are violated daily, particularly in conflict zones. The Pope condemned the sacrifice of children to power, ideology, and nationalism, describing such actions as unacceptable.

In his remarks, the Pope highlighted the dire situation faced by migrant children, many of whom perish during perilous journeys or due to a lack of medical care and exploitation. He also pointed out the plight of more than 40 million displaced children and approximately 100 million homeless children worldwide. The Pope criticized the extreme individualism in developed countries and also condemned abortion, stating that it undermines society’s hope for the future.

Meanwhile, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy would bring 30 Palestinian children with cancer to receive treatment and also pledged support for the “Food for Gaza” campaign.
