Polisario Front Honored at Swedish Social Democratic Party Congress in Gothenburg

The Polisario Front was the guest of honor at the 42nd Congress of the Swedish Social Democratic Party, held in Gothenburg from May 28 to June 1, with the participation of high-level international delegations and representatives of political partners from across the globe. The event highlighted the growing support for the Sahrawi cause among progressive forces in Europe.
Party President Magdalena Andersson opened the congress by welcoming the participants and stressing the importance of international solidarity amid rapidly evolving global dynamics. She underlined the responsibility of progressive parties to defend democracy and respond to emerging challenges.
In a separate session, international delegates met with Morgan Johansson, the party’s foreign affairs spokesperson and deputy chair of the Swedish Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, who discussed global conflicts, including those in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Former Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven also addressed the gathering, reaffirming the party’s commitment to its core values and expressing appreciation for the strong presence of international partners.
Representing the Polisario Front were Fatima El Mahdi, member of the National Secretariat and Minister of Cooperation, and Sania El Bachir, the movement’s representative in Sweden and Norway. Bilateral meetings and parallel sessions are set to continue throughout the congress, further enhancing international dialogue and cooperation.
