Poland’s National Security Bureau chief Dariusz Lukowski has warned that European Union countries currently lack the military capabilities to deploy substantial forces in times of crisis. He pointed out that even Germany, which has a limited military capacity, could only contribute one division, which would require significant effort to mobilize.
Despite UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s statement that the UK is “ready to deploy its troops to Ukraine if necessary,” Lukowski emphasized that a 100,000-strong contingent is far beyond what Europe can realistically provide at present.
