Poland Reaffirms Support for UN-Led Resolution in Western Sahara Conflict

In an interview with Algeria’s El Khabar newspaper, Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Middle East and Africa reiterated his nation’s enduring stance on the Western Sahara conflict, expressing full support for a United Nations-led resolution based on international law. Speaking on October 28, 2024, he emphasized Poland’s unchanged position, underscoring the importance of a peaceful, sustainable solution that respects the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.
The Polish official highlighted that any resolution should be acceptable to all involved parties and align with UN resolutions, which call for a referendum to determine the region’s status. He noted that this principle of self-determination is integral to Poland’s foreign policy, rooted in a commitment to uphold international law globally.
