PM represents President Tebboune in 39th AU Summit

Representing Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb is taking part in the 39th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, under the theme “Assuring Sustainable water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”

Algeria’s participation comes within the framework of the country’s commitment, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, to supporting joint African action and advancing integration and solidarity among African countries, in service of their peoples’ aspirations for sustainable development, security and stability.

During this session, the African leaders will discuss several high-priority strategic issues, chief among them the challenges surrounding water resources and sanitation services, as a cornerstone to achieve the Agenda 2063’s goals.

Discussions will also cover ways to strengthen continental cooperation and coordinate responses to economic, social and environmental challenges.

Peace and security across the continent will also feature prominently on the summit’s agenda.

In this regard, Algeria reaffirms its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, its backing of African-led solutions to African issues, and its continued active contribution to efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and stronger mechanisms for conflict prevention and settlement.

The Prime Minister will also attend the AU Committee of Ten meeting on UN Security Council reform, where Algeria will once again reiterate its firm position supporting a comprehensive and just reform of the United Nations system, in a way that ensures fair representation of the African continent and reflects the aspirations of its peoples.

Algeria reaffirms that its deep commitment to the joint African action is a firm and unwavering strategic choice, one that reflects its dedication to fostering continental solidarity, reinforcing peace and security, and driving sustainable development, with the ultimate aim of elevating Africa’s standing and role in the world.
