People-security institutions cohesion, “safety valve” against destabilization attempts

ALGIERS- Cohesion between the people and its security institutions, and especially the People’s National Army, constitutes the safety valve and the fortress in the face of the desperate attempts to destabilize the country, the minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Planning, Kamel Beldjoud, said Saturday.
Supervising the inauguration of the Central Service for the Fight against Organized Crime, together with Minister of Justice Abderrachid Tabi and Director General of National Security Farid Zineddine Bencheikh, in the presence of the wali (governor) of Algiers and senior police executives, Beldjoud said “the cohesion and the union between the people and its various security institutions, especially the People’s National Army, are a safety valve and a fortress against the desperate attempts by the enemies of the nation to undermine the stability of the country and Algerian citizens.”
The minister stressed that the new service would “strengthen our security system and contribute to the fight against all forms of crime.”
He said that “crime has reached dangerous proportions, criminals excelling in using modern technology and exploiting cyber space to achieve their sordid goals.”
Beldjoud pointed out that the dangers of organized crime, which are complex and growing, require “a multidimensional response” based on the investigation of criminal activity and its prosecution, the creation of networks of international conventions to facilitate cooperation in the fight against cross-border organized crime and the establishment of a training programme for law enforcement capacity building.
