Pentagon Signs Deals With Defense Firms to Boost Munitions Output on ‘Wartime Footing’

The Pentagon said Wednesday it had reached framework agreements with BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, and Honeywell to ramp up production of defense systems and munitions as part of a shift to a “wartime footing.”
Under the agreements, Honeywell Aerospace will increase output of critical components for US munitions stockpiles through a $500 million multi-year investment. Meanwhile, BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin are set to quadruple production of seekers used in the THAAD interceptor system. A separate framework deal with Lockheed will also accelerate production of the Precision Strike Missile, according to the Pentagon.
The announcements come more than three weeks after US President Donald Trump and Israel launched a war on Iran, signaling a broader push to expand military readiness amid escalating regional tensions.
