Paralympic Games 2024 : Algerian athletes return home with 6 gold medals

ALGIERS – The Algerian delegation that participated in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which concluded on Sunday night in France, returned to Algiers on Tuesday with a total of eleven medals.

Algeria concluded its participation in the 17th edition of the Paralympic Games with a haul of eleven medals, including six gold and five bronze.

The six gold medals were won by Skander Djamil Athmani (400m and 100m, T13), Safia Djelal (seated shot put, F57), Abdelkader Bouamer (para-judo -60 kg, J1), Nassima Saifi (discus throw, F57), and Brahim Guendouz (kayak, para-canoe, 200m KL3).

The five bronze medals were earned by Nassima Saifi (shot put, F57), Ahmed Mehideb (club throw, F32), Lynda Hamri (long jump, F12), Ishak Ouldkouider (para-judo: -60 kg, J2), and Hocine Bettir (para-powerlifting: 65 kg).

With 26 athletes (18 men and 8 women), Algeria ranked the 25th out of 186 countries in the final medal standings.
