Palestinians in Northern Gaza ‘Waiting to Die’, Says UNRWA Chief

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has issued a stark warning about the desperate situation in northern Gaza, where Palestinians are “waiting to die” amid relentless Zionist bombardments. Lazzarini revealed that UNRWA staff on the ground are unable to find basic necessities like food, water, or medical care, as Gaza endures nearly three weeks of continuous airstrikes.

In a post on X, Lazzarini described the dire conditions, with bodies left in the streets or under rubble, and humanitarian missions to clear the dead or provide aid being repeatedly blocked. “The smell of death is everywhere,” he said, reflecting on the rising death toll and the immense suffering of civilians trapped in the conflict.

Lazzarini urgently called for an immediate truce, even for just a few hours, to allow safe humanitarian passage for families seeking refuge. He emphasized that civilians in Gaza, who have no involvement in the conflict, are living in constant fear, and a truce is the bare minimum needed to save lives and offer a glimmer of hope to those suffering.
