Palestinian Government: Reconstruction Plan for Gaza Estimated at $53 Billion

RAMALLAH, February 18, 2025 – The government of the State of Palestine announced on Tuesday that the reconstruction plan for Gaza is projected to cost approximately $53 billion to address the aftermath of the devastating conflict waged by Zionist forces in the region over the past 16 months.

In a statement released after its weekly session, the government explained that “the updated reconstruction plan comprises two phases.” It clarified that the first phase will span three years and is estimated to require around $20 billion, focusing on emergency interventions that have already begun following the ceasefire.

“These interventions encompass areas such as relief efforts, temporary shelter provisions, delivery of essential services to displaced individuals, improvement of temporary shelter conditions, and stimulation of economic production across various sectors,” the government elaborated.

The second phase of the plan will focus on “reconstruction and may extend over several additional years, initially projected to cost about $33 billion according to estimates from international institutions,” the statement added.

From October 7, 2023, to January 19, 2025, the Zionist forces carried out actions in Gaza that resulted in the deaths of 48,291 individuals and left 111,722 injured, predominantly among children and women. Additionally, there are over 14,000 missing persons amid widespread destruction.
