Palestine: Russia Rejects Claims Two-State Solution is Impossible

Russia on Friday rejected any suggestion that the creation of an independent Palestinian state was impossible, reiterating support for a two-state solution with East El Qods as the capital of Palestine, in line with international law and UN resolutions, the Wafa news agency reported.

“Russia considers unacceptable any statement on the impossibility of creating an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with UN resolutions and on the basis of the two-state solution,” Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing in Moscow.

Many countries have recently recognized the State of Palestine, with others expected to follow in the coming months, affirming that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to resolving the Middle East conflict.
