Palestine: President Mahmoud Abbas confirms his expected visit to Russia in mid-August

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is due to visit Russia in mid-August to “exchange views on the latest international events, coordinate positions and strengthen bilateral relations,” he said in an interview with the Russian news agency “Ria Novosti”.

“The main objective of our visit is to exchange views on the latest developments in Palestine and the international scene, coordinate positions and strengthen bilateral relations in all areas, especially that Russia has a strong influence in world politics, including the UN Security Council, as well as the Middle East” the Palestinian president told the same source.

According to Russian media, Abbas’ visit to Russia is scheduled for August 12-14, a state visit that will end by a meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The visit of the Palestinian president comes in parallel with a genocidal war in besieged Gaza Strip, where the Zionist occupation is committing an unprecedented level of brutality in modern history.

This is in accordance with a violent escalation in the West Bank, where Palestinians are subjected to repeated attacks and aggression by Zionist settlers, under the protection of the occupation army.
