
Eleven feature films are set to compete for the prestigious “Golden Wihr” award at the 12th Oran Arab International Film (FIOFA), scheduled from October 4 to 10 in Oran, Algeria’s western capital.
Among the competing entries, Algeria will be represented by two films: “Land of Vengeance” directed by Anis Djâad, and “Two men, one destiny,” directed by an Uzbek filmmaker.
The festival will also showcase notable works such as “Messi of Baghdad” by Iraqi director Soheïr Omar-Khalifa, “Mandoub Ellil” by Saudi director Ali El-Koulthoumi, and “Inchaallah Walad” by Jordanian filmmaker Amjad Errrachid. The film enthusiasts in Oran will have the opportunity to enjoy “Fata El Djebel” by Emirati director Zeineb Chahine, “El-Mourhaquoune” by Yemeni director Omar Djamel, “Oued El Menfa” by Lebanese director Anna Fahr, and “Osfour El-Djenna,” a world premiere directed by Tunisian filmmaker Mourad Bencheikh.
Additionally, two more feature films will be screened: “Ikhtiar Meriem,” a world premiere by Egyptian filmmaker Mahmoud Yahia, and “Chay Aswed” by Mauritanian filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissoko.
The jury responsible for evaluating these films includes actor Sami Bouadjila as president, alongside members Diamonde Ouabboud, Aimene Zidane, Bessem Edhaoudi, Hanâa El Aâmier, Katia Greko, and Rachid Benhadj.
