Opening of First G20 Ministerial Meeting in Johannesburg with Participation of Algerian FM

The inaugural G20 ministerial meeting commenced on Thursday afternoon in Johannesburg, featuring the participation of Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, as announced by the ministry.

The opening ceremony was presided over by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who delivered a speech outlining his country’s vision for the future of global governance and proposals to address the escalating challenges facing the world, according to the statement.

In addition to representatives from G20 member countries and the African Union (AU), which has recently joined the group, the South African presidency of the G20 invited Algeria, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Egypt to participate in this ministerial meeting as representatives of the African continent, along with other nations from various regions.

The agenda for the ministerial meeting includes discussions on the latest developments in international geopolitical situations on the first day. Deliberations on the second day will focus on the priorities established by South Africa during its G20 presidency under the slogan “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability,” the statement concluded.
