One of 2025’s Largest Asteroids Passes Safely by Earth

One of the largest asteroids to approach Earth this year, 2025 “FA22,” passed safely on Thursday, Russian scientists said.
Classified as a potentially hazardous body, the asteroid came within about 800,000 km – roughly twice the distance to the Moon – before moving away, according to the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, quoted by TASS.
The asteroid poses no immediate threat, scientists said. Its next approach is expected in August 2036, at a far greater distance. Closer flybys are projected for 2089 and 2173.
