Occupation forces raid homes of prisoners to be released under the Gaza ceasefire agreement

The Zionist occupation forces raided the neighbourhood of al-Issawiya, northeast of occupied AlQuds, on Sunday morning, where they stormed several homes belonging to Palestinian prisoners who are scheduled to be released this evening under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to WAFA news agency.

Among the prisoners targeted were Zeina Barbar and Asil Eid, as well as Issam Abu Diab and Fahmi Frokh from the neighbourhood of Silwan, south of Jerusalem. The raid also included the home of prisoner Firas al-Wawi, the source said.

During the raids, the occupation forces imposed restrictions on the families of the prisoners, prohibiting gatherings, the display of flags, and celebrations in anticipation of their release.

The ceasefire deal stipulates a pause in fighting in Gaza and the release of three captives and about 95 Palestinian prisoners on the first day.

The total number of Palestinians to be released remains unclear, but could be between 990 and 1,650 detainees, including men, women, and children.

There are currently 10,400 Palestinians in “Israeli” prisons, not including those detained from Gaza during the last 15 months, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.

Separately, the occupation forces have continued their policy of tightening the siege on the West Bank, installing iron gates at the entrances to several villages and towns, according to WAFA. The agency added that this siege is part of a broader strategy aimed at further fragmenting the West Bank, isolating its regions, and restricting the movement of Palestinian residents as part of collective punishment measures.
