Occupation allows limited food into Gaza while ramping up strikes amid ground invasion

The Zionist occupation forces conducted at least 30 airstrikes within an hour on Monday in the southern area of Khan Younis, killing at least 28 Palestinians since dawn, as they expand their ground invasion in southern Gaza.

The occupation continues its attacks after it agreed to allow a very limited quantity of food supplies into the Gaza Strip, following a two-month-old blockade on humanitarian aid deliveries that has left the enclave on the brink of famine.

Palestinian media said 50 trucks carrying flour, cooking oil, and legumes would be allowed into the small coastal territory later on Monday, while the occupation said nine trucks with baby food were expected to enter in the coming hours.

A brief ceasefire earlier this year had allowed some relief in, but it was short-lived. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) projected in early 2024 that “famine is imminent” in the enclave, a risk that persists as aid access has been entirely blocked.

According to the latest IPC analysis, 100% of Gaza’s population of over 2.2 million people is now experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity.

One-third of Gaza is classified as being in the “critical” nutrition phase, with no functioning routes for emergency food relief.

Palestinian health officials said more than 500 people have been martyred in major attacks in the past eight days as the Zionist occupation has been preparing for a ground incursion into northern and southern Gaza, which is part of the so-called “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” that seeks to conquer the enclave and maintain a prolonged military presence there.

In the meantime, the occupation forces targeted a warehouse storing medical fluids and supplies at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis this morning. The Gaza Health Ministry posted images on social media showing extensive destruction of medical fluids, supplies, and vital equipment.

This comes a week after the occupation attacked the same hospital, which is the largest in Gaza, killing and injuring several Palestinians receiving treatment inside, according to local authorities.

Throughout its genocide in Gaza, the Zionist occupation has systematically targeted Gaza’s hospitals and health care system, rendering most of them nonfunctional and endangering the lives of patients and the wounded, as documented by Palestinian and UN reports.

The Zionist occupation’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 53,339 Palestinians and wounded 121,034, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Meanwhile, the Government Media Office updated the death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead.
