North African U20 Athletics Championship: Algeria Secures Eleven Medals

On the first day of the North African U20 Championships held in Aïn-Draham, Tunisia, the Algerian U20 athletics team (comprising both boys and girls) clinched a total of eleven medals, five of which were gold.
The gold medals were claimed by Nesrine Abed in the 1500 meters, Younes Khettal in the hammer throw, Manil Benabbas in the 100 meters, Mohamed Layachi in the high jump, and Louaï Lamraoui in the long jump.
Algeria’s medal tally was further bolstered by five silver medals. Ameur Ounadjla earned silver in the 1500 meters, Yaâkoub Abdelmoutaleb in the shot put, Haïthem Arafat in the javelin throw, Chaïma Aoudia in the shot put, and Narimène Defnoun in the 100 meters. Additionally, Mohamed Boutakta secured a bronze medal in the 1500 meters.
The championship runs from August 1 to 4 in Aïn-Draham, near the Algeria-Tunisia border. The competition will continue through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, featuring additional scheduled events.
