No Talks with Trump Amid Nuclear Strategy Commitment, Iran’s Vice President

Iran’s Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref has stated that the Iranian government currently has no intention of meeting or negotiating with U.S. President Donald Trump. Aref’s comments came in response to Trump’s remarks about the possibility of engaging in discussions with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Aref emphasized that if Trump believes Iran should not possess nuclear weapons, he should understand that this is a permanent stance for Iran, citing a fatwa issued by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, which prohibits the production of nuclear weapons. He further reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and technology, highlighting the nation’s clear defense strategy and its pursuit of self-sufficiency in defense capabilities.
The Vice President also stressed that Iran’s approach is not one of aggression, but it is prepared to defend itself and procure necessary defense equipment. Additionally, Aref called for all countries, including Iran, to have access to peaceful nuclear activities and technology. His remarks followed Trump’s signing of a presidential memorandum to reinstate the “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.
