Niger: Ten Soldiers Killed in Terrorist Attack (Military)

Ten Nigerien soldiers were killed and seven others injured during a terrorist attack on Tuesday in Pételkoli, located in western Niger, according to a report from the Nigerien military released on Wednesday.
The assault was executed by “a horde of criminals numbering in the hundreds who arrived on motorcycles, attempting to seize control of the Pételkoli position,” the report indicated. It also noted that at least 26 assailants were “neutralized,” and eight motorcycles along with a vehicle equipped with a machine gun were destroyed in the operation.
“The vigorous response from our stationed personnel, supported by rapid reinforcements from special forces and prompt aerial assistance from the Sahel Alliance countries, successfully contained the enemy and inflicted heavy losses on this group of criminals,” the news bulletin concluded.
