Niger: Army “Neutralizes” 14 Terrorists in the Country’s West

A unit of the Nigerien armed forces has “neutralized” 14 terrorists who attempted to steal livestock last Tuesday in the locality of Sabongari-Takoussa, located in the Tillabéry region of western Niger, as reported by the army in its news bulletin on Wednesday.

Tragically, the attack resulted in the death of a civilian. The report highlighted that authorities wish to “commend the population for its courage and exemplary resilience in the face of these threats.”

This area lies within the “tri-border” region (Niger-Mali-Burkina Faso), which has emerged as a new hotspot for insecurity in the extreme southwest of the country, a situation exacerbated in recent years by other terrorist groups.
