The Republic of Nicaragua has once again expressed its firm support for the Sahrawi people’s right to freedom, independence, and self-determination. This position was reiterated in a letter from Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke to his newly appointed Sahrawi counterpart, Mohamed Yeslem Beissat.

On behalf of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, under the leadership of President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo Zambrana, Jaentschke extended warm congratulations to Beissat on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. He reaffirmed Nicaragua’s “unwavering commitment” to further strengthening the historic ties of “brotherhood, solidarity, and cooperation” between the two nations.

The Nicaraguan minister emphasized his country’s continued recognition of the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to independence and self-determination. He also expressed hope for the construction of a more just and equitable international order through mutual support and solidarity.
