Nations Cup boxing : Algerian Imene Khelif wins gold medal

Algerian boxer Imene Khelif (63 kg) won the gold medal of the Nations Cup 2022, while her compatriot Roumaïssa Boualem (51 kg) won bronze, in Sombor in Serbia.

To adorn herself with gold, the Algerian boxer beat Russian world champion Elena Zhiliaeva in the final.

Algerian boxer Imène Khelif (63 kg) qualified brilliantly for this final of the Nations Cup 2022, after quite easily dominating Dutchman Heijnen Chelsey in the semi-final.

In this hotly contested and high-level competition, the other Algerian involved in this competition, in this case Roumaïssa Boualem, took the bronze medal.

Roumaïssa Boualem, was less lucky in her 50 kg category, since she was eliminated in the semi-finals by the Kazakh Angelina Lukas.

To properly prepare for this competition, the Algerian representatives had completed several blocked internships, both at home and abroad, notably in Sofia (Bulgaria) and Vojvodina (Serbia).

This 2022 edition of the Nations Cup records the participation of 143 pugilists, representing 18 countries, including Algeria.

Russia is the best represented country, with 39 boxers, ahead of Serbia, the host country, with 25 boxers.
