MOUDAF Condemns French President’s Letter as Stigmatizing Towards Algeria

The Dynamic Movement of the Algerian Community in France (MOUDAF) condemned a letter sent by the French President to his Prime Minister regarding Algeria, characterizing it as a “stigmatizing and unilateral drift.”
“By focusing on Algeria in relation to migration and security issues and making this letter public, the French President dangerously perpetuates stereotypes and legitimizes stigmatizing rhetoric against millions of Franco-Algerians,” MOUDAF stated in a press release.
The movement also criticized “a punitive approach that involves suspending bilateral agreements, questioning consulates, and using migration as a tool for political pressure,” emphasizing that “this strategy of tension undermines the interests of both peoples.”
MOUDAF pointed out that “for several months, the repeated statements made by the Minister of the Interior regarding Algeria have paved the way for this radicalization.” It noted that the French President’s letter “demonstrates that these were not isolated incidents; the head of state validates, amplifies, and fully endorses them through a deliberate political gesture.”
“The Algerian diaspora, comprising several million men and women, is actively engaged across all sectors of French society—ranging from healthcare and education to community involvement, the economy, the arts, and research. It represents neither a problem nor a threat but rather a shared asset,” asserted MOUDAF, while calling for “reciprocal, clear, and respectful cooperation, free from coercion or intimidation.”
