More Than 275 Palestinians Leave Gaza for Egypt Since Rafah Crossing Reopened

More than 275 Palestinians have left the Gaza Strip for Egypt since the Rafah border crossing resumed operations on Feb. 2, including 102 in need of medical assistance, authorities in the enclave said on Thursday.

According to Gaza’s media office, the remaining 173 people were accompanying patients evacuated for treatment.

During the same period, 213 people returned to Gaza after travelling to Egypt for medical care and rehabilitation.

Authorities in the enclave said about 1,800 people had used the crossing since its reopening, meaning only around 27% of those seeking to enter or leave Gaza had received permission.

Despite the reopening, severe restrictions and measures imposed by the Zionist entity have worsened the suffering of Palestinians and hindered their freedom of movement, particularly given the catastrophic humanitarian situation facing the Gaza Strip, the statement said.
