Month-Long Curfew Imposed in Southern DRC Cities Amid Security Concerns

Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have announced a month-long curfew in the southern cities of Lubumbashi and Likasi due to escalating security concerns. The measure, effective Monday, restricts movement between midnight and 5:00 AM daily.

According to a statement signed by the governor of Haut-Katanga province, the curfew aims to address the alarming security situation in these urban areas by facilitating the identification and prosecution of criminals.

Lubumbashi and Likasi, located near the Zambian border in Haut-Katanga province, have seen a rise in crime, prompting urgent intervention. During the curfew hours, all traffic and movement will be prohibited.

Local authorities have emphasized the necessity of this measure to restore order and ensure public safety in the affected cities. Residents are urged to comply with the restrictions as enforcement begins immediately.
