Moldovans begin voting in parliamentary election

Moldovans began voting in a parliamentary election on Sunday that could have a major impact on the government’s quest to join the European Union.
Polling booths opened at 7 am (0400 GMT). They will close at 9 pm, with results expected later on Sunday.
Most surveys ahead of the vote showed the pro-EU Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), in power since 2021, in the lead. But analysts say the race is far from certain, according to AFP.
If it loses its majority, PAS will be forced to seek coalition partners among opponents like the centre-left Alternative bloc or the populist Our Party, if they pass the threshold to enter parliament.
