Middle East Situation: Algerian President Calls for Immediate Halt to Escalation, Urges Dialogue

ALGIERS, March 25, 2026 – The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Wednesday stressed the need for an immediate end to all forms of escalation and called for prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy regarding the situation in the Middle East.
In a joint press statement with the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, following their talks at the Presidency headquarters, the President said:
“On regional and international levels, our discussions allowed us to exchange views on a number of issues of common interest and to note a significant convergence of positions on several matters.”
Regarding the situation in the Middle East and its impact on international peace and security, he added:
“We reaffirmed the need for an immediate halt to all forms of escalation, while calling for prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy and respecting the sovereignty of states and the security of their peoples.”
