MEP Sarah Knafo, “Gunsel of French Business Lobby Supporting Moroccan Makhzen”

ALGIERS – The member of the European Parliament (MEP) Sarah Knafo, “the new face of the far right and the gunsel of the French business lobby supporting the Makhzen,” is challenged to unveil the bill of what France has been giving to Algeria, the daily newspaper “Le Soir d’Algérie” said Wednesday.

In an article entitled “Knafo, Keep the Change,” the newspaper said “France of CNews (in which Knafo serves as a columnist), of Bolloré and Zemmour (the partner of Knafo) does not want to see a strong Algeria,” recalling that a complaint had been filed by the Algerian State with the judicial court of Paris against the MEP.

“Your boss, Bolloré, who has long failure stories in seeking access to the Algerian market, just wants to consolidate his assets with the Algerian transport and telecommunication infrastructures after the French had lost control of the energy, railway and mining fields. This is what is making their blood boil. I’m sorry to tell you that you are nothing but the dummy of a ventriloquist that is more powerful than you,” the daily told Knafo.

The newspaper who mentioned the plaint the Algerian state lodged with the judicial court of Paris against the MEP, for spreading fake news, said the complaint “was not considered admissible, as the French judges did not deem it useful to prosecute her, but stressed that she (Knafo) did make a mistake about the figure of 800 million euros in French aid to Algeria. A slap on the wrist and we move on,” the newspaper wrote ironically.

“Algiers had filed a complaint for just one reason, hunting down mistruth, especially when it is a gross mistruth meant for misinformation,” Le Soir d’Algérie pointed out.

Mentioning the agri-food bill which shrank in favour of Russian wheat, the newspaper said it was due to the arrogance of the French, who consider Algeria as their “economic turf.”

“Not only are the French not grateful, they are also actively contributing to the protection of the members of the Issaba who have taken refuge in their territory,” the newspaper wrote.

“The very oligarchs who have transferred billions of dollars at French banks without much scrutiny.”

In the same vein, “every Algerian visa applicants (at the French embassy) pays 90 euros in handling fees while more than 65% of the applications are rejected.” Last year “at least 260,000 visa applications were submitted.”

The daily invites Knafo, who “loves figures,” to calculate the costs imposed by France on every Algerian visa applicant,” noting that “tens of millions of dollars go to the coffers of the French diplomacy, which means that the money of Algerian tax payers are indirectly financing the salaries of French diplomats.”
