Market Value on Algiers Stock Exchange Records Fastest Growth at Arab Level in Q1 2025

ALGIERS — The market value of the Algiers Stock Exchange surged by 40.07% in the first quarter of 2025, making it the fastest-growing stock exchange in the Arab world, according to data released by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF).
In its quarterly report on the performance of Arab stock markets, the AMF stated that the market value of the Algiers Stock Exchange increased from US$3.848 billion in the first quarter of 2024 to US$5.39 billion in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a rise of US$1.542 billion (+40.07%).
According to the AMF, this represents the highest growth rate among Arab stock exchanges during the first quarter of 2025. The Algiers Stock Exchange is one of seven stock exchanges listed in the AMF’s database that recorded an increase in market value, while eight other Arab stock exchanges experienced declines.
The combined market value of all Arab stock exchanges fell by 1.45% in the first quarter of 2025, reaching approximately US$4,326.24 billion compared to US$4,390.01 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024.
In terms of annual growth rate, the Algiers Stock Exchange ranked third among Arab stock exchanges, behind Bahrain and Palestine (+121% over one year), with its market value rising from US$4.8 billion to US$10.6 billion.
Regarding transaction volumes, Arab stock exchanges recorded 272.62 million shares traded in the first quarter of 2025, down 50.2% from 553.19 million shares in the first quarter of 2024. The Algiers Stock Exchange posted the third-highest growth in trading volume among Arab stock exchanges, after Bahrain and Palestine, with 0.7 million shares traded compared to 0.3 million shares in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The AMF composite index rose by 4.37% over the past year, reaching 511.1 points, aligning with the performance of developed and emerging financial markets. On a quarterly basis, the composite index of Arab stock markets increased by 1.55 points compared to the previous quarter (October–December 2024), when it stood at 503.3 points.
