Libya: Saif al-Islam Gaddafi Assassinated, Political Team Demands International Investigation

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was reportedly assassinated in the city of Zintan on Tuesday, according to a statement from his political team, which described the attack as a “treacherous and cowardly” operation. The team stated that four individuals stormed his residence, disabled security cameras, and killed him in a direct confrontation.

The political team called on the Libyan judiciary, the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to “assume their legal and moral responsibilities” and demanded an “independent and transparent local and international investigation” to uncover the circumstances of the crime and identify those responsible.

Supporters of Saif al-Islam and the Libyan public were urged to “exercise restraint, wisdom, and patience,” with the team emphasizing that the appropriate response is to remain committed to his national project and steadfast in his principles.
