Libya Announces New Oil Discovery in Ghadames Basin in Cooperation with Sonatrach

National Oil Corporation announced on Wednesday a new oil and gas discovery in the Ghadames Basin, in cooperation with Algeria’s Sonatrach.

In a statement, the corporation said the discovery—made in partnership with Sonatrach’s overseas exploration and production unit—has shown production rates of 13 million cubic feet of gas and 327 barrels of condensates per day.

The Ghadames Basin is located in northwestern Libya, near the border with Algeria, and is considered one of the region’s key oil-rich areas.
