Lebanon: UNIFIL Denounces ‘Grave Attack’ by Zionist Drones Against Its Personnel

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on Wednesday reported one of the “most serious” Zionist attacks on its personnel since the ceasefire reached last November in the country.
“Yesterday morning, (Zionist) army drones dropped four grenades near UNIFIL peacekeepers who were clearing roadblocks that were obstructing access to a UN position close to the Blue Line,” the UN mission said in a statement, referring to the demarcation line set by the UN between Lebanon and the Zionist entity.
“This is one of the most serious attacks against UNIFIL personnel and property since November,” it added, noting that no casualties were reported. According to UNIFIL, “one grenade fell less than 20 meters away and three others landed about 100 meters from UN personnel and vehicles.”
UNIFIL further denounced the incident as “a grave violation of Resolution 1701 [which served as the basis for the ceasefire agreement] as well as international law.” The ceasefire, reached on November 27, 2024, ended more than a year of bloody Zionist aggression against Lebanon. Under the agreement, only the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers are permitted to be deployed in the south of the country. However, the Zionist forces continue to maintain troops in five border positions in southern Lebanon and regularly carries out attacks there.
