Lebanese Prime Minister Prioritizes Ceasefire and Full Implementation of UN Resolution 1701

Lebanese Interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced on Friday, November 15, that the Lebanese government is prioritizing the establishment of a ceasefire and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 without any amendments.

Mikati emphasized that the government’s primary objective is to halt the Zionist aggression against Lebanon and ensure the complete execution of Resolution 1701, in accordance with its original terms, without any modifications or alternative interpretations.

“Efforts are underway to reach an agreement,” Mikati added, as reported by the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA).

His statement came after a meeting with Ali Larijani, senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran, attended by Mohammad Reza Shibani, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for the Middle East.

Larijani expressed Iran’s unwavering support for any decision made by the Lebanese government and the Lebanese resistance regarding the ongoing ceasefire negotiations, particularly in relation to Resolution 1701. He also voiced support for the election of a president agreed upon by the Lebanese people.
