Lazzarini Condemns Zionist Raid on UNRWA Healthcare Center

Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), described the raid by Zionist occupation forces on a UNRWA-run health center in East Al-Quds as yet another step in a pattern of deliberate disregard for international law and the United Nations (UN).

In a post on X, Lazzarini stressed that the center is a UN affiliated facility, adding that the occupation authorities ordered its closure for 30 days, depriving Palestinian refugees of access to primary health care.

He further explained that, in the meantime, water and electricity supplies to UNRWA facilities, including health and educational buildings, are scheduled to be cut in the coming weeks. He noted that this is a direct consequence of legislation passed by the so-called Zionist “Knesset” last December, which tightened existing anti-UNRWA laws adopted in 2024.

The Commissioner-General also pointed to a recent ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which affirmed that the occupation authorities are obliged under international law to facilitate UNRWA’s operations, rather than obstruct or prevent them.
