Lavrov Warns of Gaza Cease-Fire Collapse Amid Rising Tensions

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced concerns on Wednesday over the potential collapse of the cease-fire agreement between in Gaza. Speaking in Moscow after talks with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yousif Sharif, Lavrov emphasized that both Russia and Sudan share deep apprehensions about the situation. He warned that Zionist threats to resume military operations in Gaza would be a “very, very sad” outcome.

Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to preventing further escalation, highlighting ongoing diplomatic efforts with the UN and Arab nations. He stressed that a lasting resolution to the conflict hinges on recognizing Palestinians’ right to establish an independent state, a pledge made in multiple international agreements.

The truce, which began after Zionist war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, is now at risk. Hamas has postponed prisoner exchanges, citing Zionist violations, while Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened renewed military action if captives are not freed soon. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s proposal to displace Palestinians to other countries has intensified tensions.
