Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov outlined Moscow’s view of the Ukrainian conflict, strongly criticizing both Kyiv and its Western backers. He argued that the United Nations is shielding the Kiev regime and turning a blind eye to its actions, undermining its credibility as a neutral arbiter.
Lavrov claimed that Ukraine is deliberately trying to sabotage the current US approach to resolving the conflict, while also working to block rational voices in the West that support a peaceful settlement. He warned that Ukrainian authorities, along with European leaders, are lobbying US President Donald Trump to abandon peacekeeping efforts and derail the settlement process altogether.
The Russian foreign minister also dismissed Europe’s attempts to reclaim a seat at the negotiating table on Ukraine, saying that given their partisan role in the conflict, they “have no business being there.” His remarks underscored Moscow’s frustration with what it sees as Western double standards and obstructionism in efforts to end the crisis.
