Lavrov Accuses Europe of Undermining Russia-US Balance

Russia and the United States reached a balance of vital interests during the Anchorage summit, but Europe is now dismantling that progress, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the online project Empathy Manuchi. He criticized European involvement in ongoing diplomatic efforts, suggesting that certain actors are attempting to disrupt dialogue between Moscow and Washington.
Commenting on the recent talks, Lavrov said those discussing the negotiations “on every street corner” are either seeking to derail the process or to shift responsibility for what he described as a lack of flexibility. He also accused Europe and Ukraine of proposing what he called a “treaty of tolerance,” arguing that such initiatives fail to ensure genuine protection of human rights in Ukraine.
Lavrov further claimed that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is relying on the possibility that, in the event of a ceasefire, NATO could deploy missiles in Ukraine capable of striking Russian cities. The Russian foreign minister presented the scenario as a major security concern for Moscow, warning that such developments would further escalate tensions in the region.
