Kremlin Signals Willingness to Negotiate Ukraine Peace Quietly with US

The Kremlin has reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to engage with US President Donald Trump’s administration to resolve the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that talks will continue for as long as necessary, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov highlighted Russia’s appreciation for Trump’s political will to pursue a peaceful settlement, noting that a direct phone call between President Putin and Trump could be arranged at any moment. He stressed that Moscow opposes “megaphone diplomacy” and prefers that negotiations proceed discreetly, free from public pressure or noise.

According to Peskov, Europe is currently absent from the peace process, focusing instead on attempting to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia—a stance Moscow considers misguided. He added that corruption scandals within the European Union are an internal matter that Russia will not interfere with, while corruption in Kyiv and among Ukrainian authorities is well-documented. Peskov said Russia combats corruption consistently and systematically, without campaigns or theatrics.

Finally, Peskov indicated that visits by foreign journalists to newly-liberated Ukrainian cities, including Krasnoarmeysk and Kupyansk, can be arranged if necessary, signaling Russia’s willingness to allow controlled access to areas under its influence.
