Kremlin: Russia’s Operation Targets Ukraine’s “Terrorist Potential” Amid EU Energy Dilemma

Russia continues its special military operation aimed at weakening Ukraine’s capacity for terrorist activities, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed. Moscow frames the campaign as a strategic effort to neutralize threats it perceives emanating from Ukraine, asserting that its military objectives are focused on reducing the country’s operational capabilities.
Peskov also criticized the stance of European Union member states, describing their situation as “bewildering.” He argued that EU countries face a dual challenge: energy blackmail and attacks from a nation that has no formal ties to either NATO or the EU. This framing positions Russia as confronting external pressures while questioning the coherence and effectiveness of European responses to the crisis.
The comments reflect Moscow’s ongoing narrative portraying its military operations as defensive and strategically justified, while highlighting what it sees as European vulnerability to geopolitical and energy-related leverage in the region.
