Kremlin: Pause in Ukraine Peace Talks Due to Kyiv’s Refusal to Continue Dialogue

The suspension of peace negotiations with Ukraine stems from Kyiv’s unwillingness to continue dialogue, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday, while also warning against the possible delivery of US Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.

Peskov recalled the talks held in Istanbul between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, noting that documents were exchanged and proposals were made to establish working groups on key areas of the conflict. “There was an exchange of documents here. Last time in Istanbul, proposals were formulated to create working groups to discuss all modalities in key areas. Now there’s a pause. The pause arose due to the Kyiv regime’s reluctance to continue this dialogue,” he was quoted as saying by the state-run Tass news agency.

On military developments, Peskov addressed Washington’s statements on potential Tomahawk deliveries to Kyiv. “We’ve heard these statements. We’re analyzing them carefully. Our military specialists are closely monitoring this,” he said, stressing that there is “no panacea that can change the situation on the front lines for the Kyiv regime.”
