Kremlin: Media Claims on Trump’s Remarks About Putin Contradict Official Statements
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that media reports claiming U.S. President Donald Trump told European leaders Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready for peace in Ukraine contradict Trump’s official stance.
“We know what Trump stated to Putin. And we know the official statements of President Trump. What we know contrasts with what was written in the article you mentioned,” Peskov told reporters, referring to a Wall Street Journal article that cited anonymous sources.
The WSJ report alleged that Trump privately told European leaders that Putin believes he is winning the war, which contradicts Trump’s previous public claims that Putin wants peace. The Kremlin emphasized that such rumors misrepresent the actual content of Trump-Putin communications.
