Kremlin: Biden’s missile decision seeks to escalate Ukraine conflict

MOSCOW – Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that the outgoing administration of Joe Biden would add fuel to the fire and escalate the conflict if it allowed Ukraine to use U.S.-made weapons to strike deep into Russia.
Peskov added that the Russian president’s statement on the consequences of strikes by Western-made weapons against his country was “clearly expressed and had certainly been heard by those to whom it was addressed,” according to TASS news agency.
Reuters, citing two U.S. officials and a source familiar with the decision, reported on Sunday that the Joe Biden administration has decided to allow Ukraine to make strikes with U.S.-made weapons deep into sovereign Russian territory.
In late October, Putin stated that Russia’s defence ministry was exploring various responses in case the United States and its NATO allies contribute to strikes deep within Russia using long-range Western missiles.
