Kirill Dmitriev Expresses Hope for Peace Ahead of Trump’s Talks with Zelensky, Eu Leaders

MOSCOW – Russia’s Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, voiced optimism that the upcoming talks in Washington between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, and European leaders will pave the way for peace in Ukraine.

“Trump and his team are pushing for a real solution. May problem-solving and peace prevail on this big day,” Dmitriev wrote on X, responding to a White House post quoting Trump about the high-level meetings. The US president had earlier described Monday as a “big day” for the White House, noting that it “never had so many European Leaders at one time.”

The talks come after Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, followed by phone calls with Zelensky, leaders of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, and France, as well as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The Washington meeting will bring together Trump, Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and von der Leyen to discuss prospects for ending the conflict.
