Kim Jong Un Announces Five-Year Plan to Develop New Secret Weapons

North Korea will work on developing and deploying new secret weapons over the next five years, the country’s leader Kim Jong Un said, outlining plans to strengthen the nation’s military capabilities. Speaking at the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim stated that the party’s Central Military Commission had approved key objectives for equipping the army with new strategic and special weapons, alongside long-term defense programs across multiple sectors.

According to Kim, the plan includes work on intercontinental ballistic missile systems for both ground and submarine launch, artificial intelligence-powered unmanned attack systems, and specialized weapons designed to strike enemy satellites during wartime. He also highlighted efforts to develop electronic warfare systems and advanced reconnaissance satellites. The North Korean leader said additional strategic weapons would be deployed annually to strengthen deterrence, including 600-mm and 240-mm multiple rocket launchers and operational-tactical missile systems intended to increase the intensity and duration of concentrated strikes.

Kim emphasized that the implementation of the new national defense development plan over the next five years would significantly enhance the country’s military strength to levels he said adversaries could not match. He added that North Korea’s military industry and defense research sectors would continue the serial production of advanced weapons to support technological progress and modernize the armed forces in line with global defense science trends.
