The US President Joe Biden has declared returning to the campain trail from next week, ignoring all the pressure from his party to step aside.
At the time the President was under quarantine due to Covid-19, several Democratic lawmakers called for his withdrawal on Friday. Yet according to the BBC, Vice-President Kamala Harris, a potential alternative to Joe Biden, said “Absolutely, the president’s in this race”, adding that he is the candidate who prioritises the American people.
The Democratic National Convention starts on August 19, while the Democratic National Committee is expected on August 7 to select the official party nominee to meet state ballot deadlines.
